CTC TEA GRADES OF ORTHODOX TEA
Orthodox Leaf is classified as Whole Leaf, Broken Leaf and Fannings graded by Leaf in each class as indicated below.
Whole Leaf Tea
.SFTGFOP (Special Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) - This is a classic blend of Assam finest quality black tea which is slightly malty and rich in flavour.
.FTGFOP (Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) - This is the highest and finest grade quality of Darjeeling tea.
.TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) - This is the very important grade of Assam tea that contains the highest proportion of tips then GFOP.
.GFOP (Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) - This is Top grade in the Milima and Marinyn regions but not much popular in Assam. It has a higher proportion than FOP and lesser than TGFOP.
.FOP (Flowery Orange Pekoe) - This is a high quality tea which has long leaf and lesser tips then other premium tea leafs grades.
Broken-leaf tea
Broken-leaf tea is a tea that has been torn or broken but is still in large enough pieces to be recognizable as pieces of leaf.
.GFBOP (Golden Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe) - These are long whole leaves with buds with the addition of the tips.
.FBOP (Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe) - The finest broken orange pekoe, with a higher proportion of tips; mainly from India "low districts".
.GBOP (Golden Broken Orange Pekoe) - Second grade tea with uneven leaves and few tips.
.BPS (Broken Pekoe Souchong) - This is the broken grade and is prevalent in Assam (India).
CTC Teas Grades Are By Size From Largest To Smallest
.BPS (Broken Pekoe Souchong) - This is the broken grade and is prevalent in Assam (India).
.BOP (Broken Orange Pekoe) - Broken Orange Pekoe. This is the main broken grade and is prevalent in Assam (India).
.BOPSM (Broken Orange Pekoe Souchong) - Appreciated for freshness, great taste, nutritional value, rich aroma and longer shelf life, this range of BOPSM Grade Tea is highly demanded in the global market.
.BP (Broken Pekoe) - Usually a black, open, fleshy leaf that is very bulky. The most common broken pekoe grade comes from Assam( India) and Southern India.
.OF (Orange Fannings) - Orange Fannings is a blend made from broken leaves that is less finer than other Darjeeling black teas and GOF.
.PD (Pekoe Dust) - This grades are classified into various qualities, each determined by how many of the adjacent young leaves
